Melbourne is home to a large Chinese community. The Chinese settlers&nbsp;began immigrating in the 1850s during the gold rush era in Victoria. Ships sailed from Hong Kong to Australia, all in the hope of reaching&nbsp;the &quot;New Gold Mountain&quot;. From there Chinatown (on Little Bourke Street) grew and has made Melbourne&#39;s&nbsp;Asian cuisine what it is today!

Chinatown is a distinctive and well known area in Melbourne. It is the longest continuous Chinese settlement in the western world and one of the oldest Chinatowns in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a network of small alleyways filled with&nbsp;hidden treasure that connect&nbsp;Bourke Street and Lonsdale Street.
