One of the world's longest flying fox rides is set in the heart of Nelson. This one-of-a-kind experience is a shot of adrenaline mixed with an amazing scenic ride high above the forest canopy.

Your tour starts with a 4km ride in a 4-wheel drive vehicle, passing through the pristine native forest while our guides entertain you with facts about the park’s diverse native environment, cultural aspects and fun stories. The Skywire is set 300m above the cafe and has incredible views of Cable and Delaware Bays, the western ranges and north towards D’urville island. On a clear day, you can even see the snow-capped peak of Mount Taranaki.

You'll get strapped securely into the ride with 5-point harnesses on individual racing car style seats. The Skywire seats up to 4 “flyers” at a time, with around 1000m of gravity assisted free-wheeling, reaching speeds of up to 100 kph, followed by 600m at a more leisurely pace. It's ideal for taking in the incredible scenery. Then you do it all again, but backwards! Many people rate the return backwards as the highlight of the trip.

This adventure universally appealing for every age, however, a minimum height of 1.2 m applies. The Skywire is weather dependent and doesn't operate in heavy rain or high winds.
